Welcome to St Mary of Mount Virgin Church Our Mission Statement Our mission is spreading the Good News of the Gospel of Jesus Christ while maintaining the ethnic values on which this parish was historically established. Based in strong Italian traditions, devotion to the Blessed Mother, and guided by the Holy Spirit, we are called to raise Christian awareness through Liturgy...Education...Service...Ecumenism...Hospitality... and JOY! At St. Mary's you are Known, loved, Appreciated and FAMILY. A Little History St. Mary of Mount Virgin Church was founded in 1904 to provide a house of worship for the growing Italian American community of New Brunswick, New Jersey. The church was formally incorporated on August 25,1905. By 1927 the Italian population had grown significantly and a Church Building Society was formed for the purpose of raising funds to build a church. The presiding Pastor, Father Mugnano saw his "dream of dreams" constructed in 1928. Built in a Romanesque style, constructed of granite stones, with cast bronze bells imported from Holland, St. Mary of Mount Virgin Church became a center of life for the thriving Italian community. Over the years, under the direction of Father Mugnano, St. Mary of Mount Virgin Church grew into the complex that it is today - Church, Rectory, Convent, and School. We offer for sale a Commemorative Edition celebrating the 100th Year Anniversary of St Mary of Mount Virgin Church which can be purchased through this website - it contains a complete history of the church and the people who have kept the spirit of Christ and His Blessed Mother Alive for generations. This website is dedicated to the vibrant parish community that continues to make St. Mary of Mount Virgin Church a beacon of Christ's hope to the surrounding community. It is our hope you will explore our site, linger as long as you like, and come and visit us for worship! St Mary of Mount Virgin Church is an historical landmark! There is a plaque outside on the left front wall of our beautiful church.
