DIOCESAN ANNOUNCEMENT CONCERNING MISSION PARISHES

The Church defines a "mission parish" as a unique community of the faithful that is entrusted to the care of a pastor until it can assume the responsibilities of a parish on its own.  Given that all of the "mission parishes" in the Diocese of Metuchen were established some time ago, Bishop Paul Bootkoski has decided to examine the status and viability of our "missions" this year.

The Bishop has asked Jeffrey Korgen, Executive Director of the Department of Diocesan Planning to study the pastoral life of each of the five "mission parishes" in the Diocese, including our St. Theresa of the Infant Jesus, Edison, and to make recommendations to him by the late Fall about their future status.  This process will include conversations with the pastor and the consultative structures (such as parish pastoral councils) of each parish and mission involved, beginning in August.  Please contact Father Bob for further information.
