Time to Think about Time
A father concerned that his son was wasting his
youth took him for a walk. It was a bright, windless
day … their walk led them to a lake. “Look how the
entire landscape ~ the sky, the sun and the mountain
~ is reflected in the water,” said the father.
Then he dipped his hand into the lake and flicked
his fingers toward the ground. He encouraged his
son to look closely at one of the drops of water that
had landed on the earth. In this one drop, the entire
reflection of the same landscape was visible.
“The same is true with time,” said the father. “One
minute has all the properties of your entire life. It
is a microcosm of your entire day, just as one day
is a microcosm of your entire life. And so, you
should treat each accordingly.” You cannot add
more minutes to the day, but you can utilize each
one to the fullest. How? By recognizing that everything
you do is important to God, and each thing is
one more vital piece of the larger picture of your
life!” And so, dear friends … make every moment,
every word, every thought ... matter. Waste nothing,
and love completely. Life is such a quick ride!
