The Regina Nostra Award

Congratulations to this year’s recipients of the Regina Nostra Award of the

Diocese of Metuchen. Mr. Joseph Faraci from St. Mary of Mount Virgin, and

Richard & Joan Latham from our mission parish,St Theresa of the Infant Jesus, in Edison.

The Diocese awards the Regina Nostra every five years to individuals or couples who have been

outstanding in their services to their parish or to the Diocese. These members of our parish families

were recommended by our late pastor, Father Bob,for having gone above and beyond the usual ‘call to

service.’ This is an acknowledgement of thanks for the tremendous amount of time and true dedication

they have invested in St Mary and St Theresa. We are quite grateful to these recipients!

  VOCATIONS

The Vocationists are Coming!

We are very pleased to inform our parishioners and friends that we will be graced with two priests on

February 14, 2012. They are Fr. Jimson, who will be the Pastor, and Fr. Leo who will be the curate.

They are not Diocesan priests, but members of the Italian Order known as the Vocationists. We ask

that you keep them in your prayers while we await their arrival!

Where is God calling you?

If you have any questions regarding the Priesthood or becoming a nun or a brother , please contact the Office of Vocations at 732-562-2457 -  - or email them at vocations@diometuchen.org

New Jersey Right to Life News

St Mary of Mount Virgin Church remains committed to supporting the Right to Life in every meaningful way we can.  Make sure when you vote every November that  you do not vote for someone who thinks abortion is a choice!

The more recent definition of separation of Church and State has been devised to establish a rather skewed interpretation of "death" as a religious "concept",  in so doing, it enables the culture of death to rise in power by minimizing abortion to an idea.

As we make vows on Sundays let us ever be aware that knowledge of right and wrong is no longer enough and that we will have to fight to end the misrepresentation of our values and return the law of the land to conformance with the laws of God.

NEWARK, N.J.

Twelve nurses represented by Alliance Defense Fund attorneys filed suit Monday

against their employer, a hospital run by the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, for requiring them to participate in abortions. Federal and state law both protect them from being forced to do so. ADF Legal Counsel Matt Bowman stated "No less than 12 nurses have encountered threats to their jobs at this hospital ever since a policy change required them to participate in the abortions regardless of their religious objections. That is flatly illegal." Federal law prohibits hospitals that receive certain federal funds from forcing employees to participate in abortions. UMDNJ receives

approximately $60 million in federal funds annually. In addition, New Jersey law states, "No person shall be required to perform or assist in the performance of an abortion or sterilization." In September, UMDNJ initiated a policy change telling Same Day Surgery Unit nurses that they must assist abortions and repeatedly threatened that they must assist abortions or be terminated.

When one nurse objected to assisting abortions on the grounds of her religious beliefs, a supervisor responded that UMDNJ has "no regard for religious beliefs" of nurses who object to participating in abortions.

Please keep these brave women in your prayers!
